About The Position

Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments and analysis to provide data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy and processes patient samples to prepare for testing/shipping. Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components as well as studies blood cells and their numbers and morphology. Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes and conducts DOT urine drug collections and breath alcohols, as needed. Analyzes test results, records findings, and performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data as well as performs decontamination of work areas. Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data. Records instrument logs for repairs, replacement, and needed maintenance of equipment. Assists in maintaining adequate supply inventory in all Lab work/storage areas and requests and stocks supplies. Assists in writing descriptions of routines necessary to perform tests, maintains knowledge of State and Federal regulations, and trains and oversees new employees, including MLTs and lab assistants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Medical Technology or a closely related field.
  • ASCP or equivalent Medical Technologist certification.
