About The Position

Wythe County Community Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Medical Technologist (PRN) to join their laboratory team. The laboratory focuses on accuracy, patient care, and safety, offering a large test menu to guide clinical decisions. The lab is accredited by the Joint Commission and plays a vital role in accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and overall patient well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science preferred.
  • Licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standardized procedures and prepares patient samples for testing.
  • Collects and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities, including blood samples for transfusions.
  • Operates laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
  • Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits; reports and documents findings according to organizational standards.
  • Performs automated testing using computerized instruments and equipment.
  • Conducts Quality Assurance to ensure accuracy and reliability of equipment and results.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
