About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario is seeking multiple Medical Technologists to join their team. This full-time position involves performing a wide range of laboratory tests on human specimens across various departments, ensuring accurate results and maintaining equipment and supplies. The role requires adherence to established protocols and regulatory requirements, with a focus on quality control and critical result reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related field of study or foreign equivalent.
• Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform, record, and review scheduled QC (quality control).
• Take immediate corrective action when QC data is outside established limits.
• Verify specimen labeling, integrity, and suitability before performing testing.
• Accurately perform low, medium, and high complexity testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Report test results accurately and appropriately report critical test results to physician, nursing station, or physician office according to established protocol.
• Perform and record routine maintenance of equipment.
• Recognize and document poor instrument performance and take appropriate action independently.
• Monitor supply inventory and take appropriate action to ensure that needed supplies are readily available.
• Perform lab testing on human specimens in all areas of the lab, including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, serology, molecular, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.
