About The Position

Hillsdale Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician (MT or MLT) to join their team on a casual basis. This role involves performing a variety of tests and examinations on patient specimens using analyzers and manual methods. The position requires a strong understanding of scientific principles to assess the accuracy of results and identify critical changes for patient care. The successful candidate will also be responsible for troubleshooting instruments and ensuring regulatory compliance for accreditation. Requirements

Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Masters's degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, or biology
BLS certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

Responsibilities

Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzer and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids
Responsible for all regulatory compliance issues necessary for accreditation
Assess accuracy and validity of obtained test results by applying knowledge of relevant scientific principles, recognize changes that are critical to patient care, identify probable causes for irregular and atypical findings
Troubleshoot instruments and resolves technical problems, documenting corrective action and initiating remedial action
Follow written policies and procedures for a comprehensive quality assurance program, patient test management, quality control, test procedures and policy manuals
