About The Position

Health First is seeking Medical Technologists, Medical Lab Scientists, and Medical Technicians for various shifts including full-time, part-time, and per diem. These roles involve performing laboratory testing to provide quality results and using resources efficiently. The positions are located in Brevard County, FL, across Viera Hospital, Palm Bay Hospital, Holmes Regional Medical Center, and Cape Canaveral Hospital. A hire-on bonus of up to $10,000 and relocation assistance may be available.

Requirements

  • Medical Technologist licensure by State of Florida and in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
  • Medical Technician licensure by State of Florida and in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to work with bio-hazardous/toxic materials following OSHA guidelines.
  • Excellent human relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays when needed.
  • May be required to take call.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform clinical/technical tasks.
  • Must pass color blindness test.
  • Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (2-3 hours).
  • Must be able to sit and operate a computer.
  • Must be able to function in a highly stressful environment.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Lab Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or any related field, as outlined by CLIA (for Medical Lab Scientists).
  • Proficient in required computer applications (for Medical Lab Scientists).
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, prioritization and organization of tasks (for Medical Lab Scientists).
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English (for Medical Lab Scientists).

Nice To Haves

  • Appropriate certification by the ASCP or other similar accrediting agencies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing laboratory testing to provide quality results.
  • Using resources efficiently.
  • Performing diagnostic tests in a medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, ensuring validity and accuracy of test results.
  • Performing clinical laboratory testing of various complexities.
  • Working as a team to maintain responsible attitudes.
  • Working with bio-hazardous/toxic materials following OSHA guidelines.
  • Interpreting all tests performed in the section.
  • Problem-solving situations.
  • Making independent decisions.
  • Working autonomously with minimal supervision (for Medical Lab Scientists).
