About The Position

The Medical Technologist Lead in the CORE LAB is responsible for performing all routine technical procedures, rotating laboratory weekends with section supervisors, and coordinating and facilitating technical activities in the lab. This role involves assisting in the daily planning and organization of work activities to achieve maximum efficiency, organizing work priorities, and judging the adequacy of submitted specimens, requesting new ones if necessary. The Lead Technologist can interrupt the testing sequence for STAT procedures, recheck questionable results, and notify the supervisor when additional personnel are needed due to workload demands. They will supervise work performed in the section when acting as the technologist in charge, especially on weekends and holidays, and supervise trainees in bench work activities. This position also assists in meeting requirements set forth by inspection agencies. The role requires the ability to treat patients of all age groups and perform duties with professionalism, projecting a positive image of the laboratory and hospital. Interactions with laboratory staff, nursing staff, medical staff, visitors, patients, manufacturer, and sales representatives must be professional, friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate, aiming to provide excellent customer service. This includes answering the telephone promptly and courteously, displaying concern, and providing assistance as appropriate. The position is dedicated to meeting customer expectations and working with customers to identify concerns and recommend solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a technologist with demonstrated managerial leadership responsibility and organizational abilities.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Current Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Microbiology, Blood Bank or all areas (or eligible) is required).
