About The Position

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a skilled Medical Technologist to support veterinary diagnostic and research activities through a wide range of laboratory procedures. This role performs routine, complex, and specialized histology techniques on diverse specimen types, ensuring accurate tissue processing, staining, and slide imaging to support diagnostic interpretation. You will join a collaborative laboratory team where your technical expertise helps keep daily operations running smoothly and supports the work of pathologists, residents, and students. This position offers the opportunity to apply and grow your skills across all areas of the histology lab while contributing to high-quality diagnostics and continuous improvement. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing routine and advanced Histopathology procedures. Supporting the maintenance of smooth lab operations and assisting with the resolution of technical issues. Monitoring and upholding quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Participating in complex technical projects or process evaluation. Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or in a biological science, with a minimum experience of four years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in histology laboratory procedures, with specific understanding of veterinary histology.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to balance individual responsibilities with shared workflow and communication.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including but not limited to sitting or standing for extended periods of time while performing work responsibilities, and being able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to adhere to quality and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification in Histotechnology.
