About The Position

The Medical Technician/Receptionist role is responsible for assisting Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients at The Orthopaedic Institute on clinic days. In addition, the role will perform clerical duties on non-clinic days to assist the Staff Assistant.

Requirements

  • CCMA or CNA preferred
  • CPR certified preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of medical office experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with computer skills including experience with practice management software desired
  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in a direct patient care role in a medical office setting
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move over 25 pounds
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)

Responsibilities

  • Answer clinic phone calls and make patient charts
  • Schedule outside testing for patients as needed
  • Send patient referrals to other physicians as needed
  • Serve as a backup to the Staff Assistant for tasks as needed
  • Maintain patient flow, the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, and performing basic skills such as vital signs and point of care testing
  • Review patient history
  • Order X-rays
  • Draw up injections
  • Perform wound care
  • Perform suture and staple removal
  • Perform splinting/casting
  • Perform DME application
  • Clean and stock exam rooms
  • Pack and clean medical instruments
  • Ensure blood borne pathogen, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and other governmental regulations are adhered to
  • Ensure all safety regulations are adhered to
  • Other duties as assigned
