About The Position

The Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. This includes managing patients in post-operative recovery and performing telemetry monitoring. The role involves working with a diverse patient population including oncology, telemetry, surgical recovery, infections, cardiac conditions, and behavioral health needs. The position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to float between units as needed. The nurse will also be responsible for completing VA-required training such as safety, HIPAA, and EHR.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
• Active RN license (Ohio or compact state)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience
• Strong English communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Completion of VA-required training (safety, HIPAA, EHR, etc.)
• Compliance with credentialing and privileging standards
• Ability to float between units as needed

Nice To Haves

• ACLS required for ICU/ED

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and monitor clinical status
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products
• Provide telemetry monitoring and cardiac care
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Perform wound care, central line care, and catheter management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Delegate tasks to support staff
• Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
