Medical Surgical Nursing Assistant
About The Position
This is a part-time, day shift position for a Medical Surgical Nursing Assistant on the 9 North Medical unit at Royal Oak Hospital. The unit is a 35-bed Medical/Surgical unit that sees a diverse patient population, offering numerous learning opportunities. The unit emphasizes patient needs, strong teamwork, and providing the highest level of care. Staff are encouraged to participate in the Professional Nurse Council and a Shared Governance Model. Royal Oak Hospital is a major academic and referral center recognized by U.S. News & World Report, with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations, and has achieved Magnet designation four consecutive times.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
- Current CNA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
