About The Position

The Medical Surgical CNA (also referred to as Certified Nursing Assistant or Med-Surg CNA) supports patient care in a medical-surgical setting. The role assists patients with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs, and monitors for changes in their condition. The CNA also supports nurses by maintaining supplies, assisting with wound care under an RN’s direction, and helping keep the environment clean and safe. Entry-level CNAs, including candidates with a newly earned CNA license and no prior experience, are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire; preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office is preferred.
• Newly licensed CNAs with no prior experience are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transfers, to help prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
• Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
• Help ensure the environment remains clean and safe.
• Assist with transporting patients within the hospital.
