About The Position

This position is located within the Dental Directorate at Fort Stewart, GA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties include visually inspecting required instruments for cleanliness, damage, and/or deterioration; conducting equipment testing; packaging surgical items individually or into trays; and documenting shortages. The role involves determining proper sterilization procedures, loading items and biological quality control tests properly, and operating and cleaning sterilizers. It also requires initiating sterile item recall protocol when deficiencies are found in previously sterilized loads (i.e., positive spore notification or discovery of a wet load). The technician will ensure appropriate climate control measures are maintained, verify expiration dates and rotate stock, and maintain stock levels in sterile supply cabinets. Daily quality assurance testing on all equipment used in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

• US Citizens
• One year of specialized experience which includes sterilizing medical supplies and equipment; and assembling instrument trays.
• Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
