About The Position

Great American Employer Health Solutions (EHS) is seeking a remote Medical Stop Loss Underwriter. This role is ideal for individuals who are inquisitive, adaptable, and eager to advance their careers in a dynamic startup environment. The position offers significant exposure to underwriting, data systems, and group performance analysis. The Underwriter will be instrumental in the underwriting function, providing essential insights into the potential risks associated with groups. Key areas of focus include Underwriting Support, Data Systems Support, and Group Performance Analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Generally, 2-5 years of medical stop loss underwriting experience.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Ability to understand and integrate complex data.
Prior experience with risk assessments is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess the risk factors of potential clients.
Assist with storing specific data elements and policy issuance, while maintaining a strong working relationship with clients.
Evaluate the risk profiles of groups using EHS's machine learning/AI software to determine their viability and profitability.
Collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources to support underwriting decisions and contribute to risk modeling.
Work closely with other team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of program stacks and cost containment measures.
Assist with organizing and maintaining data systems, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of data.
Perform data analysis, troubleshoot system problems, and engage in data entry.
Collaborate with the account management team by providing research and analytical support.
