About The Position

The Medical Staff Coordinator is assigned to the Medical Staff Affairs department and will provide support to the Director and assist the medical staff. The Medical Staff Coordinator interacts in a professional, respectful manner with internal and external customers. This role is part of a team-oriented work environment at Texas Health Plano, a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas. The hospital specializes in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit and state of the art and technologically advanced surgical services. Texas Health Plano is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only health care facility in Collin County to have achieved both the Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designation and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. It is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement and a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years medical staff or hospital credentialing experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree preferred
  • five years preferred medical staff or hospital credentialing experience
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission (JACHO) standards and regulatory requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the reappointment and elevation processes from initiation to completion according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely completion of reappointment and elevation application process, renewing of privileges, and review by supervisor.
  • Development of credentialing criteria for new privileges, processing requests for additional privileges, responding to both internal and external customers requiring reports or information, and special projects.
  • Examine, research, and gather necessary information to process credentialing applications.
  • Enter or post requested privileges in database.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date computerized database and credentials files for all appointees as assigned.
  • Work closely with group providers to obtain documents for enrollment.
  • Serves as a resource for hospital staff, physicians and their office staff in relation to Medical Staff activities.
