About The Position

This role involves greeting and registering new plasma donors, conducting screening procedures, performing tests, determining donor eligibility through interviews and assessments, and providing counseling. The position requires adherence to all standard operating procedures for medical emergencies and compliance with state and federal regulations, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures. Maintaining open communication with management, a positive demeanor, and regular attendance are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

LPN, RN, EMT, or Paramedic certification/license.
Ability to perform finger sticks.
Knowledge of donor screening procedures.
Familiarity with medical history interviews and physical examinations.
Understanding of HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, and confidential self-exclusion.
Ability to counsel donors regarding test results.
Knowledge of post-donation information procedures.
Ability to handle medical emergencies and follow standard operating procedures.
Familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal Company Procedures.
Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
Regular attendance and punctuality.
Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management computer system.
Conduct screening procedures to include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks.
Perform finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit testing and total protein testing utilizing screening equipment.
Monitor the electronic donor questionnaire system.
Determine donor eligibility by performing donor eligibility assessments, to include; medical history interview, physical examination, educating donor on donor testing, HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary.
Provide counseling to Donors regarding unacceptable test results.
Initiate and assist in donor investigations regarding Post Donation Information.
Evaluate and attend to donor adverse events during the donation process.
Follow all standard operating procedures for all medical emergencies, to include communication with the Center Medical Director and donor transport to emergency medical care facilities.
Communicate and seek direction from Center Medical Director and Center Management as necessary.
Learn and maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with all state and federal regulations, Standard Operating Procedure Manual, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), and internal Company Procedures.
Maintain an open line of communication with Management.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with donors, fellow employees, and vendors.
Accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
Regular attendance and arriving on time to all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.
