Under general supervision, the Medical Staff Associate is responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. This role provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification. The associate interviews donors, performs medical history reviews, and reviews test results to determine continued donor suitability. They assess donor symptoms that may result in the inability to continue donating, notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results, and refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling. The position also involves providing routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalating critical medical situations to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as required. In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, the associate responds to medically related questions and provides information to staff on donor suitability.
