Under general supervision, this role is responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. The Medical Staff Associate provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification. They interview donors and perform medical history reviews to gather necessary information to determine suitability for plasma donation. In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, they respond to medically related questions and provide staff with information on donor suitability. The role involves reviewing test results to determine continued donor suitability and assessing donor symptoms that may prevent donation. Additionally, they notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results, refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling, and provide routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Critical medical situations are escalated to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
