Under general supervision, the Medical Staff Associate is responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. This role provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification. The associate interviews donors, performs medical history reviews, and assesses donor suitability to donate plasma. They also review test results, assess donor symptoms, and notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results, referring them to community facilities for follow-up. Critical medical situations are escalated to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
