Under general supervision, this role is responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. The Medical Staff Associate provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification. They interview donors and perform medical history reviews to obtain necessary information to determine suitability to donate plasma. In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, they respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability. This role also involves reviewing test results to determine continued donor suitability, assessing donor symptoms that may result in the inability to continue donating, and notifying and counseling donors regarding reactive test results, referring them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling. The Medical Staff Associate provides routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalates critical medical situations to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
