Under general supervision, this role is responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. The Medical Staff Associate provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification. They interview donors, perform medical history reviews, and review test results to determine continued donor suitability. This position also assesses donor symptoms that may result in the inability to continue donating, notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results, and refers donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling. The role involves providing routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalating critical medical situations to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as required. In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, this role responds to medically related questions and provides information to staff on donor suitability.
