About The Position

Eagle Integrated Services, LLC (EIS) is seeking a Medical Specimen Processing Assistant. This role involves working in a laboratory setting, handling and processing medical specimens, and maintaining accurate records. The position requires adherence to specific protocols and regulations, including those related to shipping and specimen integrity. The assistant will be responsible for receiving, processing, verifying, accessioning, and shipping medical specimens, as well as managing laboratory supplies and ensuring specimen stability. Attention to detail is crucial, as errors can have significant impacts. The role also involves communication with leadership and addressing any reported incidents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • At least one (1) year of experience handling and accessioning medical laboratory specimens
  • Non-Disclosure Agreement in place with their company

Responsibilities

  • Follow all PHE documents and forms.
  • Receive and process medical shipment boxes from various agencies.
  • Track errors/discrepancies with IATA shipping regulations.
  • Process, verify, accession in CHCS, and re-label medical specimens from various agencies.
  • Document the condition in which specimens are received (frozen, refrigerated, or room temperature).
  • Monitor and evaluate the stability of specimens according to PHE procedures.
  • Sort specimens upon arrival by sample type for priority of specimen processing and identifying short stability specimens.
  • Enter specimen and patient data into the USAFSAM/PHE Laboratory Information System.
  • Address any Incident Reports in the ensuing Monthly Status Report.
  • Deliver specimens to the appropriate sections of the laboratory.
  • Process specimens being sent to outside reference laboratories.
  • Perform all tasks using appropriate techniques to assure specimen integrity and positive identification throughout the laboratory processes.
  • Receive, process, and ship shipping supply orders to customers as needed.
  • Prepare and ship boxes back to customers.
  • Receive, process, and store shipments and specimens as directed by the program manager/lead laboratory specimen processor during base closures to ensure specimen stability is not affected.
  • Accomplish other laboratory tasks as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
