The successful candidate will have experience as a medical social worker, preferably in a Hospice environment. This role acts as an advocate and helps clients gain access to resources during bereavement, including grief counseling or other mental health services for patients. The position requires exercising sound judgment and developed skills to assist patients and families in coping with the emotional issues and practical arrangements related to a patient's diagnosis. The Medical Social Worker gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adherence to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures is necessary to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Responsibilities may also include performing specific procedures and/or teaching duties.
