About The Position

The employee in this classification shall possess a certification of a medical occupation. The employee will report to the Nursing Director. Participates in client treatment regimen, including medication orders and monitoring. Maintain compliance to state regulations and all reporting procedures. Participates and ensures the HIPAA compliance regarding privacy of medical records. This job description may not include all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described. Requirements

  • Must be Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or three years working with mental health population.
  • Working knowledge of social learning theory, cognitive-behavioral intervention and approaches, assessment and evaluation.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaborate with various groups.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license, be able to meet agency driver standards and have access to personal transportation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include some weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Interact verbally and nonverbally with all clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Coordinate and review all assessments for BH Services as they pertain to client's physical and medical status in a confidential manner.
  • Complete weekly medication audits to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to the Nursing Director.
  • Work with the treatment team to provide consistently therapeutic milieu.
  • Review all medical consults and physicals alerting Nursing Director of any issues/concerns.
  • Refer clients to any medical appointments deemed necessary.
  • Participate in on-going training for staff and clients on prescribed medication/medical signs, symptoms side effects and other relevant issues for this population.
  • Establish and maintain medical files and histories for each resident and updates annually.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of client's self-administration of medications.
  • Assist agency staff in setting self-administration of medications goals for each resident.
  • Inform Nursing Director of medication errors.
  • Act as agency liaison with pharmacy provider.
  • Participate in required annual trainings.
  • Work closely with Nursing Director on ensuring that the Information Technology Department assists with and updates privacy policies to meet HIPPA.
  • Other duties as assigned.
