Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in the medical field
  • Must be able to type at least 55 wpm.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Customer service strengths

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with EPIC preferred

Responsibilities

  • Captures real-time, accurate documentation of histories, exams, assessments, and plans at the provider’s direction.
  • Retrieves and organizes prior notes, reports, and test results to support the encounter.
  • Strictly adheres to scope: does not act independently or enter orders.
  • Navigates EPIC (or assigned EHR) efficiently to enter, update, and locate information.
  • Maintains appropriate typing speed with high accuracy on notes obtained.
  • Uses EHR tools/workflows to reduce errors and support provider throughput.
  • Verifies data integrity; resolves discrepancies before finalizing notes.
  • Protects PHI and follows HIPAA and site documentation standards.
  • Meets timeliness targets for same-day completion/closure as applicable.
  • Listens attentively; records provider inputs without misinterpretation.
  • Communicates clearly with providers and clinic staff to anticipate needs and handoffs.
  • Maintains professional, respectful interactions when managing fast-paced and changing clinical demands.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and compassion during patient interactions in the room.
  • Supports a safe environment and escalates concerns (documentation gaps, missing information, or discrepancies) to provider(s) promptly.
  • Is punctual, prepared, and adaptable to schedule changes and clinic volume.
