About The Position

Join OrthoVirginia as a Medical Scribe and gain invaluable hands-on experience working side-by-side with orthopedic physicians and providers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in healthcare, science, or related field.
  • A strong interest in pursuing a healthcare career.
  • Relevant coursework such as biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, or public health.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and technology proficiency.
  • Ability to learn medical terminology and clinical documentation practices.
  • Ability to navigate electronic medical record systems effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to a healthcare environment is a plus. This may include medical scribing, EMT, CNA, medical assisting, athletic training, physical therapy, clinical research, or physician shadowing.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical record systems is helpful; Epic experience is a plus.
  • Strong typing skills, with 60+ words per minute preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documenting patient encounters accurately and in real time in the EMR.
  • Capturing patient histories, exam findings, assessments, treatment plans, and other key clinical information.
  • Entering provider-directed orders, referrals, imaging, therapies, and related services.
  • Supporting efficient clinical workflows and a positive patient experience.
  • Collaborating with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and documentation standards.
  • Completing required training and supporting clinic operations as needed.
