About The Position

The Medical Scribe will accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician. The physician will review all documentation completed by the Scribe and close the encounter. This role involves managing patient charts, entering orders into the EHR, and ensuring compliance with clinic standards and governing agency requirements. The scribe will also be responsible for obtaining necessary reports, managing chart information, and protecting patient and employee safety through infection control measures. Additionally, the scribe will communicate patient concerns, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with team members.

Requirements

High school education.
Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by the Clinical Operations Manager and/or Human Resources.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.
Checks schedules and ensures pre-visit information is completed.
Enters required orders, as directed by the physician/provider, in the patient’s EHR.
Adheres to all meaningful use workflows.
Assures quality of care by maintaining clinic standards of care while adhering to requirements of other governing agencies.
Protects patients and employees by complying with infection control policies and procedures.
Communicates to appropriate staff any patient concerns, issues, cancellations, etc.
Obtains lab/radiology reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
Manages and updates charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Respects and promotes patient rights.
Responds appropriately to emergencies.
Works as a productive member of the team helping co-workers as needed and/or assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
