About The Position

A busy ophthalmology practice located in West Hartford (with 9 satellite locations) is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and a team player to join our friendly work environment. This is a completely computerized office that utilizes electronic medical records.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task while handling stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
Be a team player and maintain a professional and positive attitude
Study the CPSS Home Study Modules and pass the CPSS exam within 6 months of hire
Maintain a professional appearance as outlined in the employee handbook
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information as it relates to patients and staff members

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree
One-year medical terminology
One-year experience in Ophthalmology or medical setting

Responsibilities

Document the Physician's findings in the patients Electronic Medical Record
Transcribe the impression and plan, results of tests, prescriptions, discussions, and orders as dictated by the Physician
Anticipate the needs of the Physician and patients as often as possible to help with patient flow
Administer patient eye drops as requested by the Physicians
Assist the Physicians with office procedures
Assist with patient education
Ensure that the patients visit, and all diagnostic testing has been properly coded on the patients encounter form
Willing to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice; Master within 6 months
Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean workspace
Willing to travel to other satellite offices as needed. (Reliable transportation required)
Assist with other assigned tasks not limited to the Clinical Department as directed by Clinical Leaders and SEC Management
