About The Position

Assists physician/clinician in documenting details of the patient visit via the electronic medical record, and performs other related clerical duties to increase physician/clinician effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction. Effectively communicates and ensures the patient's clear understanding of the scribe role, in order to enhance the patient's experience and comfort level. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in medical assisting, medical transcription, emergency medical services, patient service and/or as a health care professional with demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology and technical spelling.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble patient charts, retrieve external records, and gather test results before visits.
  • Accompany clinicians during exams to transcribe visits into the EHR using precise medical terminology.
  • Pend labs, imaging, medications, and referrals with appropriate diagnoses for clinician approval.
  • Update patient histories, enter follow-up instructions, and submit final records for physician sign-off.
  • Measure vital signs, room patients, and assist with non-sterile procedures as needed.
