The objective of the Medical and Scientific Liaison (MSL), by virtue of their training and expertise, is to discuss and provide scientific and therapeutic information to Healthcare Professionals and Researchers viewed by their peers to be authorities in Oncology (Clinical and Scientific Leaders). The Medical & Scientific Liaison's interaction with their audience is governed by guiding principles intended to deliver unbiased and evidence-based information through in-depth scientific exchange in the therapeutic area of Oncology often leading to knowledge transfer initiatives and research. Reporting to the Oncology Therapeutic Area Head, Medical Affairs, the Medical and Scientific Liaison uses exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, especially in the area of one-on-one communication, and a high degree of understanding of oncology and the treatments, to develop and maintain strong scientific working relationships with Clinical Scientific Leaders in oncology with both clinicians, pathologists and other stakeholders involved in diagnostics, and/or basic scientists through the communication of unbiased and evidence-based information. The Medical & Scientific Liaison is responsible for the scientific knowledge management and strategic medical/scientific expertise in Lung, and GI cancers for the Oncology Therapeutic Area. Collaborating with their commercial counterparts, the MSL will provide expert strategic input and execute on key tactics in support of the objectives of the Oncology Therapeutic Area. The Medical & Scientific Liaison holds the responsibility for the strategic development, execution, and delivery of assigned tactical objectives of the Oncology Medical Affairs Plan, in alignment with the overall strategic objectives for the Therapeutic Area in Canada. This will include deliverables such as diagnostic launch readiness, post-licensure studies, publication plans, and other knowledge transfer activities. The MSL is responsible for managing assigned budgets in order to optimize investment opportunities. Internally, the Medical & Scientific Liaison will participate in key strategic teams to provide expert medical/scientific advice and technical perspective to the Business Development and Portfolio Management functions. The incumbent will share medical/scientific expertise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Legal and Marketing in Canada, and throughout the Europe Canada Region as requested. The position will also maintain responsibility for support towards new approvals and regulatory reporting as required.
