About The Position

This is a full-time position within the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, specifically in the Autopsy Lab. The role involves performing various photographic techniques, including photomicrography and photomacrography, and providing technical guidance to faculty and staff. The Medical Science Photographer will also be responsible for developing film, making prints, producing slides, and maintaining photographic files. The position requires competence in photographic operations, knowledge of photography techniques, computer skills, basic medical knowledge, and the ability to operate technological equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Three years of related photographic experience.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Competence in photographic operations demonstrated through professional portfolio
Knowledge of photography techniques and proper use of equipment
Strong computer skills
Basic medical knowledge
Ability to operate technological equipment and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Prior Forensic photography experience
Adobe Photoshop experience
Technical certification

Responsibilities

Performs photomicrography and photomacrography with bright field, dark field, phase contrast, and fluorescence.
Plans the composition of the photograph, analyzing the subject material and selecting the angle, lighting, and background to enhance desired or to eliminate unwanted features.
Provides technical guidance and instruction to members of the faculty and staff in medical photography techniques and procedures.
Develops film, makes prints, and produces slides from charts, books and slides to be used for teaching purposes.
Maintains files of photographs and processed film.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
