About The Position

Gilead Sciences is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for their US Medical Affairs team, focusing on HIV (Treatment and Prevention). This is a field-based role covering Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island. The MSL will report to the USMA Field Director and will be responsible for supporting field activities related to HIV Treatment and Prevention, building relationships with key healthcare decision-makers, and providing scientific support. The role requires an experienced, organized, and results-oriented healthcare professional.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years’ Experience OR Masters' Degree and Six Years’ Experience OR Ph.D.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be fully cognizant of all relevant complex scientific data.
  • Must also be cognizant of complex regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
  • Must be committed to continuing education to maintain knowledge base.
  • Able to travel 75% of the time, occasionally with short notice, including regular overnights and some weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license for traveling by car.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (i.e. MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP/PA) preferred or BS in pharmacy or BS/MS nursing with varying levels of clinical and/or industry experience.
  • A minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a medically related profession (e.g., HIV treatment, prevention) with strong demonstrated knowledge of the clinical research process, treatment landscape, and professional society treatment guidelines.
  • Relevant experience must include at least 3 yrs clinical practice experience.
  • Industry experience desirable.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations is required.
  • Experience in the management or investigation of clinical trials is highly desirable.
  • Clinical patient contact experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and succinct clinical, scientific, and educational presentations to healthcare providers in HIV Treatment and Prevention.
  • Implement defined goals and objectives aligned with the Medical Affairs Plan of Action and other strategic initiatives.
  • Develop strategic plans for cultivating and maintaining working relationships with existing and future thought leaders in the assigned region.
  • Provide timely insights to strategy and competitive intelligence teams regarding treatment practice and trends.
  • Participate in advisory boards and educational programs, including speaker training sessions and clinical conferences.
  • Collaborate appropriately with colleagues across other functional areas, including Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Strategic Operations, Government and Public Affairs, Commercial, and Marketing.
  • Utilize scientific field tools and resources to deliver impactful presentations.
  • Complete required administrative and training procedures in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to clinical inquiries regarding marketed or developmental Gilead products.
  • Develop and present complex scientific and clinical data for these products.
  • Identify and develop regional and national opinion leaders to support Gilead products and train Gilead approved speakers.
  • Establish strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and providers at academic and non-academic settings.
  • Provide sales force with training at national and regional levels.
  • Work on Gilead Phase IV program that includes collaboration with investigators and internal Gilead personnel.
  • Recommend sites for both Phase IV and other clinical trials.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex obstacles and difficulties that may arise in the field.
  • Travel to appointments, meetings, and conferences on a frequent and regular basis, occasionally with short notice.
