About The Position

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in Immunology - GI for the Rocky Mountain territory, covering Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. The ideal candidate will reside in Denver, CO. This role is part of the Medical Affairs group and focuses on providing scientific and clinical information to healthcare professionals and opinion leaders. The MSL will be a key resource for knowledge on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products within the Immunology/GI therapeutic area, staying updated on landscape trends and supporting research initiatives. The position requires a high degree of integrity, adherence to credo values, and a focus on building external relationships with healthcare providers. The MSL will develop and manage a strategic territory plan, including educational activities, and must demonstrate competency in the IBD disease state, strong foundational capabilities in influence, communication, stakeholder engagement, product knowledge, and data interpretation. The role also involves collaborating compliantly with field-based partners to improve patient care and continuously strengthening agility through change management, time management, and innovation in a dynamic field environment. All activities must align with regulatory and healthcare compliance standards. This is a field-based clinical position requiring significant travel (75-80%) within the assigned geography and occasional travel outside the territory for meetings.

Requirements

  • PharmD, PhD, MD; other advanced medical degree, NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician Assistant) with 2+ years relevant TA clinical experience also considered
  • Ability to support travel up to 75% which includes overnight travel, including some weekend commitments
  • Ability to drive and fly to various meetings/congresses/headquarters.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and utilization of computers and remote technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience including clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical work experience with presentation skills
  • Knowledge or experience in the Rheumatology and/or Immunology work experience strongly preferred
  • Reside in territory - ideal location will be Denver, CO

Responsibilities

  • Provide fair balanced, objective, scientific information and education to opinion leaders (OLs), health care professionals, and internal partners.
  • Serve as an established scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products per Therapeutic Area (TA) alignment.
  • Stay abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in their therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Provide research support for company and investigator initiated research.
  • Build external relationships with identified OLs and health care providers (MD, PA, NP, RN, Pharm.D., biocoordinators).
  • Develop and manage a geographical territory.
  • Develop and maintain a territory strategic plan, which includes educational activities with identified OLs, HCPs, institutions, and community practices.
  • Demonstrate competency and experience in the IBD disease state.
  • Exhibit strong foundational capabilities in influence and results focus, communication, stakeholder engagement, product and therapeutic area knowledge, and data insights and dissemination.
  • Rapidly identify opportunities to compliantly collaborate with field-based partners in support of healthcare providers, with the goal of enabling better patient care.

  • Execute plans regarding reactive and proactive outreaches as approved via the legal/HCC exceptions process.

  • Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and act as liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs and operations teams.
  • Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings as appropriate, including site initiation visits and investigator launch meetings.
  • Effectively lead at least one scientific or strategic Immunology project, exhibit strategic identification of educational gaps and elevate team acumen.
  • Actively participate in team calls, trainings, & journal clubs through scientific dialogue, understanding of current standard of care, and regularly sharing of scientific news.
  • Attend and provide leadership at scientific conferences to gather and understand new scientific information relevant to the company and the external scientific community.
  • Actively listen for, document, and share medical insights.
  • Proactively synthesize data and medical insights for MSL team and other partners.
  • Set aside time for self-driven learnings on current scientific landscape.
  • Represent and support JNJ at relevant scientific or other key stakeholder meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards and investigator meetings.
  • Represent JNJ at speaking engagements at relevant scientific or other key stakeholder meetings.
  • Perform all administrative requirements in a timely, accurate and compliant manner (e.g. expense reports, documentation of activities).
  • Maintain focus and composure in uncertain circumstances with minimal direction.
  • Provide regional and local support to enhance sales training initiatives and improve competencies of field personnel in partnership with Sales Learning and Development.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all field based partners, and other Immunology MSL teams on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to partner with others to lead or participate in large scale projects.
  • Maintain thorough understanding and competence in regulatory and health care compliance guidelines; corporate policies on appropriate business conduct and ethical behavior; Medical Affairs SOPs and guidelines.
