Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Canada is recruiting for a Medical Science Liaison – GU Oncology to be based in Ontario. The ideal location for candidates to reside are: Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, London and Kitchener. Requirements

  • Pharm D, PhD or MD is required.
  • Strong clinical and/or scientific background is required.
  • Ability to acquire expertise in other therapeutic areas and products, depending on pipeline and/or changing business priorities is required.
  • Excellent collaborator interested in sharing knowledge and mentoring/educating colleagues and peers is required.
  • Critical thinking and positive track record of excellent execution is required.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, assimilate and distill large amounts of information is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships is required.
  • Proficiency in effectively communicating information to KOLs, allied HCPs and non-experts is required.
  • Strong project management skills is required.
  • Ability to impact decision-making with relevant partners based on sound scientific knowledge is required.
  • Business acumen, including prioritization skills and big picture orientation is required.
  • Scientific knowledge, curiosity, familiarity and interest to stay on top of emerging data and scientific trends within the therapeutic area is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be able to handle concurrent priorities, and follow through in a field-based role is required.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs is required.
  • Ability to travel ~50% of the time, to cover the assigned territory within Canada and, limited, internationally, is required as this is a customer facing position.
  • A valid driver's license issued in Canada is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an MSL is preferred.
  • Prior experience in Oncology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan for the territory that aligns with Medical Affairs strategy, prioritized medical objectives, and approved core medical assets.
  • Cultivate strong professional relationships with academic and community KOLs and HCPs in the territory to advance our scientific credibility.
  • Engage in high quality, two-way scientific exchange that encourages dialogue, shared understanding, and learning over time.
  • Utilize insights and MSL tools to develop a strategic approach for customer engagements within territory by collecting, synthesizing, and applying clinical, scientific, competitive, and territory level information.
  • Keep abreast of scientific literature/clinical data and maintain up-to-date scientific expertise in GU Oncology through self-learning, attendance at scientific and medical conferences, training sessions, and preceptorships (virtual and/or in-person attendance), to translate data into an applicable and relevant knowledge and communication platform.
  • Collect and communicate relevant insights from KOLs to support and progress TA strategy, and inform business and evidence generation planning.
  • Assist in the interpretation of clinical trial outcomes, post-hoc analyses, and real-world data.
  • Actively participate in the preparation and conduct of medical and scientific forums organized by J&J (e.g. Advisory Boards, Steering Committees, etc.).
  • Provide expert-level clinical consultation and support to business partners (e.g. Medical Education events, Medical communications development, etc.)
  • Support Real World Evidence (RWE), phase III/IV local and global clinical development program, interpretation of results, post-hoc analyses, and research collaboration with investigators, as needed.
  • Support investigator-initiated studies by fielding and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with J&J’s research needs, and engaging investigators to ensure the successful execution and satisfactory completion of studies as needed.
  • Assist in responding to HCP compassionate drug requests for their patients.
