Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. has an innovative customer engagement approach designed to better meet the needs of patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers (HCPs) in a changing healthcare landscape. This model focuses on local care delivery, aiming to enhance the patient experience and ultimately improve patient care. The 'ecosystem approach' unifies account management, medical, patient access, marketing, and market access teams to engage with local healthcare systems and identify opportunities for improvement. This matrix model provides customers with more coordinated and seamless care, supported by digital tools to bridge care gaps. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), as a Senior Manager and a key member of the ecosystem team, contributes to the strategic business plan for the ecosystem and identifies vital stakeholders. The MSL acts as a credible partner, providing clinical, scientific, and health economic information about CNS disease states and the appropriate use of approved Otsuka products within the ecosystem. This field-based role involves engaging with Key Influencers (KIs), Local Practice Leaders (LPLs), healthcare providers, and patient groups within their assigned ecosystem to advance patient outcomes in alignment with Otsuka's objectives. MSLs collaborate with ecosystem partners to tailor regional business strategies to local needs and are responsible for the medical and educational requirements of their customers. They may also cover multiple products within the CNS therapeutic area and engage in broad clinical and scientific discussions impacting patient care, gathering valuable customer insights to share within the ecosystem.
