About The Position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-facing role whose main objectives are to be the trusted scientific partner to key external experts by conducting timely, appropriate and frequent scientific exchanges to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of our products. The MSL will execute on stakeholder engagement plans to gather data, develop and share medical insights that contribute to enhancement of Sanofi’s key medical messages, plans and future research. The role requires keeping abreast of medical and scientific developments in the therapeutic field to help identify and critically assess research opportunities and to play a supportive role in the execution of evidence generation plans to enhance the value of our products in a real-world setting. The MSL will also recognize, record and share insights that deepen the understanding of the needs of patients, consumers, regulators, payers, and healthcare providers and proactively contribute towards identifying unmet needs. Maintaining effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs colleagues, Medical Information and Commercial Operations) while maintaining full compliance with relevant company, industry, legal and regulatory requirements is crucial. The role also involves demonstrating operational understanding and risk management by ensuring excellence in execution of all governance processes. Requirements

Advanced degree in a technical, scientific or medical field (MD, PhD, Pharm D,) preferred, or other Relevant Life Sciences Degree (RN/MS) with Healthcare Specialty required.
Prior experience in field medical role or pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
Prior experience working with healthcare systems, payers, healthcare providers, and researchers (preferred).
Knowledge of in immunology, allergy, respiratory therapeutic area preferred.
Clear understanding of medical practice, clinical decision making and healthcare systems related to patient care.
Ability to interpret key scientific data and translate this information to meet educational and research needs.
Demonstrated ability to address educational and research needs through delivery of cutting edge scientific/evidenced based data.
Understand the design and execution of research studies.
Exemplary communication and presentation skills.
Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams and managing significant volume of projects.
Actively listens to others and is adept at confidently stating expert opinion while respecting the positions of others - can exert diplomacy while standing firm on a position.
Utilizes effective, professional communications to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues, flexible in own approach to people and situations.

Knowledge of relevant healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, regulatory and payer environment, public health and industry trends.
Proficiency in digital tools.

Responsibilities

External Scientific Engagement: One-on-one & group interactions with external stakeholders using deep therapeutic area knowledge. Leverages disease expertise and competitive intelligence to communicate product value to experts. Builds long-term relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and stakeholder partners. Educates stakeholders on medical/clinical topics using approved materials within regulatory guidelines. Monitors healthcare policies at local through national levels. Maps and prioritizes stakeholders using defined systems aligned with medical strategy. Executes Scientific Engagement Model for territory planning and congress participation. Organizes educational meetings and advisory boards, supports speaker training.
Data Collection & Insights Generation: Gathers stakeholder feedback from multiple sources and interactions. Records insights using available tools and mechanisms. Critically evaluates published studies and stakeholder input to develop market insights. Contributes to strategy enhancement through deep understanding of market needs. Maintains awareness of emerging evidence in disease area.
Internal Collaboration: Distributes scientific information and external insights to internal teams. Collaborates cross-functionally with Commercial, Regulatory, Business Development on various initiatives. Creates materials for stakeholders following internal and regulatory policies.
Evidence Generation Support: Monitors disease epidemiology and supports protocol development for various study types. Identifies data collection opportunities during stakeholder interactions. Maintains clinical trial awareness and suggests trial sites. Supports investigator-sponsored studies through appropriate processes.
Role Context & Challenges: Independent operation with minimal supervision in complex regulatory environments. Substantial travel nationally and internationally. Mediates complex KOL opinions while maintaining relationships and corporate alignment. Ensures regulatory compliance in non-promotional activities.
Scope & Accountability: Manages 50+ stakeholders with engagement tracking database. Plans daily interactions aligned with Medical Affairs strategy. Accountable for US KOLs reporting to Medical Affairs. Executes territory strategy addressing diverse stakeholder needs (payers, patients, KOLs, HCPs). Uses approved scientific data to advance therapeutic area understanding.
