About The Position

Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Records Technician to join their team of talented professionals who provide health care services to Military Service Members and their families at Walter Reed National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. The role offers a framework of stability and structure with lower provider-to-patient ratios and fair, reliable schedules. The Medical Records Technician will support the Hematology/Oncology Department and utilize systems such as MHS Genesis.

Requirements

• High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• 2-3 years of clerical experience (i.e. MSA/Medical Clerk/Administrative Support/General Clerk)

Nice To Haves

• Experience with MHS Genesis, formerly known as the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA).
• Contractor HCP shall attend training in the use of MHS Genesis, Clinical Information System (CIS).

Responsibilities

• Transcribe and process physician orders for patient care, medications, tests, and treatments.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and organized patient medical records.
• Coordinate and process requests for labs, imaging, consults, therapies, and appointments.
• Answer and route telephone calls, relay messages, and escalate urgent clinical information.
• Support patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, including preparing admission packets and notifying providers.
• File test results and ensure patient records remain current and complete.
• Maintain departmental logs, records, and statistical data.
• Perform general administrative duties, including copying, filing, sorting mail, and transporting specimens and documents.
• Provide clerical support to the Hematology/Oncology Department while meeting established workload requirements.
