Requirements
- Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Manage work assignments, support staff development, and oversee training activities
- Organize and monitor inmate health records while ensuring compliance with DOC and regulatory standards
- File, issue, and transfer records and respond to subpoenas in accordance with confidentiality and legal requirements
- Examine records for completeness and accuracy and coordinate corrections with clinical staff
- Create statistical and management reports related to health care data and service usage
- Assist the Quality Assurance Committee by evaluating and improving record maintenance methods
