About The Position

This position oversees the creation, organization, and maintenance of inmate medical records while supporting staff and ensuring compliance with standards. As a Medical Records Supervisor - SCI Greene, you will perform the following duties: Staff Supervision: Manage work assignments, train staff, and support completion of daily responsibilities Record Maintenance: Organize and monitor integrated health records while ensuring compliance with documentation standards Record Handling: File, withdraw, issue, and transfer medical records following confidentiality rules and legal requirements Record Review: Examine records for completeness and accuracy and refer issues to appropriate medical personnel Statistical Reporting: Prepare reports related to morbidity, mortality, service use, and record reviews Quality Assurance: Evaluate recordkeeping methods and participate in quality improvement discussions

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
  • Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
