About The Position

A nonexempt position responsible for assembling patient information into patients’ medical charts/records in accurate and complete manner.

Requirements

  • Accurate and complete assembly of patient information into medical charts/records.
  • Processing of documents from medical assistants.
  • Scanning, batching, and filing patient records in EHR.
  • Responding to requests for medical records information.
  • Compliance with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for privacy and security of patient information.
  • Explaining privacy policy to patients.
  • Maintaining documentation of access to medical records.
  • Communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Providing customer service at the medical records front office desk.
  • Accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Responsibilities

  • Collects medical record file folders from all medical assistants and processes the documents appropriately.
  • Scans, batches and files patient records accurately in the EHR.
  • Responds to requests for medical records information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and security of patient information; explains the privacy policy to patients as needed; maintains appropriate documentation of access to medical records.
  • Communicates as needed with physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Covers medical records front office desk providing excellent customer service to patients requesting information.
  • Enhances medical records and CNS reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
