This position is primarily responsible for maintaining Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center’s files of clients, responding to requests for information and pulling client charts. The Medical Records Coordinator will scan and file documents electronically for various programs, send forms electronically for client completion and track their return, manage phone and email messages, and respond to requests for information in a timely manner. This role also involves maintaining the filing system, including the annual destruction of inactive client information, keeping Substance Use Disorder outpatient treatment sign-up folders up to date, faxing for the agency, reviewing and forwarding emails from the HVMHC website, educating outer offices on medical records procedures, updating client information in the EHR, reviewing names for clinician’s peer review, backing up reception and intake staff, and releasing records to insurance companies. A vehicle, valid driver's license, and valid auto insurance are required.
