About The Position

Under the supervision of the Manager or designee, this role maintains medical record integrity through analyzing and processing medical data entry in patient records information. The Medical Records Clerk performs audits, assists physicians with chart deficiencies, and handles prepping, scanning, and indexing into the Horizon Patient Folder daily. This position also responds to requests for highly confidential medical information from various sources, adhering to established hospital and department policies, procedures, and state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in Medical Records as a chart analyst OR one year of experience in a physician's office as an office physician assistant (with ability to interpret physician handwriting and recognize signatures).
  • Six months of coursework in medical terminology OR one year of experience in Medical Records or a physician's office with the ability to read and understand medical terminology.
  • One year of working experience in data entry/imaging equipment OR a certified business course or specialized training in data entry/imaging equipment.
  • Six months of training in the legal aspects of releasing confidential medical information OR one year of experience in a hospital or physician office setting where releasing medical information is required.
  • At least six months of previous related experience in public contact and medical office.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
