About The Position

Monarch Medical Management is an integrated medical facility focused on providing the community with specialty orthopedic care. Our goal is to continue our mission in providing our patients with the highest level of care and compassion they deserve in a personalized setting. Our practice is a full-service provider of comprehensive bone, joint, and muscle care. We are looking for a professional, service-oriented team player to join our team. As a full-time Medical Records Clerk, you will serve as the liaison between our medical records and accounting teams, providing support for the release of patients' medical records in a very busy medical practice. Candidates must be able to coordinate and track a variety of details to ensure a seamless patient experience. This is a non-exempt, clerical position responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining patient medical records. The Medical Records Clerk will ensure that records are maintained in compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the medical services system.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software.
  • One or more years of experience entering data into computer systems.
  • Demonstrated success in responding to customer inquiries.
  • Proven track record of dependability in previous roles.
  • Prior work experience in release of medical records is required.
  • Chiropractic clinic medical records experience is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Submit medical records requests as assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to phone calls from medical and support personnel seeking medical records.
  • Log all medical record requests and maintain a detailed record-keeping system.
  • Determine the appropriate records to release by reviewing requestor information and obtaining patient data from various sources.
  • Accurately enter data into the computer system, including scanning medical records into the database when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, particularly adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations in daily tasks.
  • Identify and escalate any issues that may cause delays in the timely release of medical records to the manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
