Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, and computer experience required
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to file correctly by alphabetic or numeric system
  • Knowledge of medical records tasks, clinic procedures, medical terminology and paperwork processing requirements
  • Ability to use interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, other facility staff, patients and families when providing instructions or responding to questions or exchanging patient-related information

  • Experience with medical files, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Files patient records and reports in chronological order
  • Retrieves and distributes patient medical records for staff review
  • Posts test reports and other correspondence to medical records and documents lab results when appropriate
  • Print patients’ information and forwards to requesting party/referring physician after receiving appropriate consent to release medical records
  • Checks reports and/or print images in and out; Burns CD’s and/or print images to paper, as requested
  • Imports digital outside images into PACS when necessary
