About The Position

The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining and organizing patient medical records in a healthcare facility. Ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of medical records, while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. Assists healthcare professionals in retrieving and updating patient information as needed. Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one to three (1-3) years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates patient medical records in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of medical records by verifying and entering patient information, such as demographics, medical history, and test results.
  • Reviews medical records for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Retrieves and delivers medical records to healthcare professionals upon request, ensuring timely access to patient information.
  • Assists in the coding and indexing of medical records to facilitate accurate billing and insurance claims processing.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
  • Responds to inquiries from healthcare professionals, patients, and authorized individuals regarding medical records and information.
  • Maintains electronic and paper filing systems, ensuring proper organization and storage of medical records.
  • Follows established protocols for record retention, disposal, and archiving, in compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
