About The Position

Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) is seeking a Medical Receptionist for its Columbia Clinic Team. Requirements

  • Experience in maintaining and coordinating scheduling of new and return appointments.
  • Ability to schedule transportation for appointments.
  • Proficiency in answering phones and retrieving messages.
  • Skill in maintaining professional calendars and schedules.
  • Ability to prepare and distribute daily appointment schedules.
  • Capability to ensure consumers are checked in and monitored.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to provide administrative support (faxing, filing, mail distribution).
  • Skills in maintaining a neat and organized work area.
  • Experience with insurance verification, scanning insurance cards, and verifying coverage.
  • Ability to collect co-pays and make change.
  • Willingness to attend mandatory in-services, continuing education, and annual health requirements.
  • Commitment to complying with Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to complying with OSHA and safety policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to participate in team efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and coordinate scheduling of new and return appointments for consumers with physicians and nursing staff, ensuring communication of these appointments to appropriate staff.
  • Schedule transportation for return appointments by assisting consumers in communicating with external transportation companies.
  • Answer phones promptly and courteously, retrieving messages when needed.
  • Maintain professional calendars and schedules of Medical Operations.
  • Prepare and distribute daily appointment schedules to physicians, nurses, and appropriate staff.
  • Ensure consumers are checked in and monitored to prevent extended waiting times.
  • Present and maintain a friendly customer service attitude.
  • Provide administrative support to Medical Operations staff, including faxing, filing, and distributing mail.
  • Maintain a neat and organized lobby, kitchen area, and desk area.
  • Assist with insurance verification, scanning insurance cards, verifying coverage, and reporting errors.
  • Collect co-pays and make change.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services, continuing education, and annual health requirements.
  • Comply with all Corporate Compliance policies, practices, and procedures, reporting unethical activities.
  • Comply with all OSHA and safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting unsafe practices or accidents.
  • Be compliant with HIPAA regulations regarding the privacy and security of consumer's protected health information (PHI).
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Follow all policies and procedures set by the Agency.
