Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform all responsibilities of the reception area, including checking in and checking out patients.
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments, considering insurance rules and physician preferences.
  • Verify insurance benefits and collect payments due at the time of service.
  • Answer telephones, schedule appointments, and redirect calls to appropriate departments.
  • Confirm appointments in advance and reach out to patients as needed.
  • Prepare daily schedules, identifying potential issues before patient visits.
  • Greet patients, check them in, and assist with completing necessary intake forms.
  • Confirm, capture, and correct patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance, obtain benefits, and identify remaining deductible amounts and/or copays to collect.
  • Collect and scan patient insurance cards and photo IDs.
  • Mail no-show letters daily.
  • Review daily superbills for completion, making necessary edits for accurate payment collection.
  • Balance payments received and prepare the daily deposit.
  • Complete all scheduling tasks, messages, requests, referrals, and faxes.
  • Return voicemails and make follow-up attempts to patients.
  • Provide EOBs to patients and explain balances as needed.
  • Fax DWC forms to proper recipients.
  • Collate, sort, and identify medical information for scanning/queuing into the EMR system.
  • Sort faxes, assist with fax failures, and distribute them to appropriate departments.
  • Assist with Release of Information requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
