About The Position

The Medical Receptionist accurately checks patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records and accounts. The role helps maintain patient flow and provides positive patient relations at an American Family Care franchised location in Chamblee Brookhaven.

Responsibilities include preparing the clinic for opening, registering patients, updating records, verifying insurance, processing payments, responding to patient needs, and completing daily balancing and closing procedures. Duties may vary between franchise locations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge, such as Microsoft Office.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Positive customer service skills.
• Well-groomed appearance.
• Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.

• Previous medical clerical experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the clinic for opening by reviewing the facility, opening systems applications, and preparing registration packets and required documents.
• Greet patients, provide initial paperwork, and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards.
• Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and promptly, and check patients out.
• Determine, collect, and process patient payments; address collection and billing issues.
• Respond promptly to customer needs and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist patients with follow-up appointments and fulfill medical documentation requests.
• Balance daily patient charges, including cash, checks, and credit cards, against system reports.
• Complete closing procedures, prepare closing documentation, and submit required reports.
• Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
