About The Position

The Medical Receptionist for the Colville Tribal Healthcare Authority is the first point of contact for patients at their assigned location. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a smooth, positive and patient focused environment. The Medical Receptionist will perform their job duties in a professional manner while assuring that all the needs of the patients are met with a pleasant demeanor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • Certificate in office administration, medical administration or related field and 2 (two) years of work experience in an office environment.
  • HIPAA and Privacy training within 90 days of employment
  • Blood borne pathogen training annually
  • CPR/First Aid within initial 90 (ninety) days of hire
  • Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language
  • Ability to utilize RPMS and EHR proficiently
  • Requires ability to utilize a multi-line telephone with good telephone etiquette
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Well-developed human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others and to give instructions
  • Ability to communicate technical information and to interact with a wide variety of groups and individuals inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work processes in a high-volume environment in order to meet schedules and timelines
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trends
  • Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in the duties of the position in order to meet mandated deadlines and to comply with goals and objectives
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License is required and be insurable

Responsibilities

  • Handles all administrative functions for the medical operations including: patient registration, communication with vision plans for determining benefits and payment processing.
  • Schedules, monitoring appointments, missed appointments, and documenting issues
  • Assists with the identification of “high risk” patients and include them in the patient registry(s)
  • Enters data in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS)
  • Responsible for accurate patient demographics, insurance eligibility and verification related to patient accounts
  • Assist with patient questions and/or complaints for resolution of concerns
  • Complies and ensures compliance with applicable legislation, funding and organizational requirements, policies and procedures
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive team member information in line with data protection policies and laws
  • Performs other duties as assigned
