About The Position

The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, playing a critical role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This position is responsible for managing patient appointments, handling inquiries, and maintaining accurate records, thereby supporting the smooth operation of the medical office. The role requires effective communication and organizational skills to coordinate between patients, medical staff, and administrative teams. By managing front desk activities and patient flow, the Medical Receptionist 1 contributes directly to the quality of patient care and overall clinic efficiency. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and appointment scheduling software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or in Medical Office Administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collect co-payments and process billing information as required.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to manage patient flow and minimize wait times.
  • Prepare and distribute patient forms and informational materials.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence.
