The medical receptionist is responsible for answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, updating patient demographics, maintaining a bump list, scheduling for each division, paging MDs with hospital consults, and obtaining medical records when possible. The receptionist will work closely with medical staff to ensure all patients are provided with quality care. This role involves welcoming patients and visitors, utilizing the Centricity Business Practice Management System for registration, filing and retrieving patient records, making appointment reminder calls, scanning and filing administrative and medical information, and maintaining necessary forms and office supplies. The position requires participation in staff and educational meetings, adherence to policies and procedures, and contributing to team efforts for excellent patient care and service. Additionally, the role emphasizes responding to customer needs with care, courtesy, and respect, providing prompt service, attentive listening, and clear communication. Effective and supportive interaction with diverse individuals, respecting patient privacy and dignity, and maintaining HIPAA compliance are also key aspects of the job.
